I am happy to announce that I am now offering a free 45 minute consultation for folks interested in distance learning.
When I was first approached by a prospective student who wanted lessons on-line I was skeptical. I did not think teaching through video conferencing would be effective but my prospect had a solid background in martial arts training was committed to incorporating what I gave him into his practice, so we decided to give it a try.
The results surprised me. Gus was diligent about working with the ideas I gave him, open to questioning things from his previous training and able to incorporate the ideas we worked on into his other training. When he eventually sent me video of him easily slamming his training partner into a mattress against the wall I got goose bumps I was so happy.
Overtime I have worked out a number of ways to help get folks to understand the core ideas behind Yi Chuan training and have worked virtually with people all over the world, even using translators when they are not fluent in English. Even people that live nearby often use distance learning sessions to supplement their in person training visits because it is simply so time-effective.
People that seem to get the most out of distance learning have some background in martial arts, chi gung, yoga or similar practices (standing a plus) and are frustrated with the results they are getting or confused about the purposes of certain types of practices. These folks have often dedicated significant amount of time to their study and really want to ‘get more bang for their buck’ so to speak.
If your one of those people, the free consultation makes it easy for you to decide whether distance learning is right for you. Drop me a line and we will schedule a time to chat using Skype or a similar service.
Mil gracias Steve por su generosidad de compartir… creo que el crecer como ser humano es uno de los objetivos del arte marcial genuino
