They tell you to stand there, like a tree, hold still, eventually you will understand….
Perhaps a fairy will come along and sprinkle some magic dust on your head after 1, 2, 3,…5,..10 years of obedient practice..?!!?
Maybe not.
I’m don’t know where this notion came from about standing for the sake of standing, but it seems to to have trapped many people into a predominately empty practice.
Standing practice (Jam Jong) is not about standing.
Jam Jong is not 8 postures or 12 or 32 or 126 or any posture at all.
Jam Jong can be any posture, any shape, any configuration you can make with the human body.
Jam Jong is not still.
Nothing is still, everything is always in motion.
Jam Jong is alive, moving inside, the engine always running.
Jam Jong is not alone, there are other practices to help you understand it, refine it.
Jam Jong is a state…a deer on alert, a snake coiled to strike, a cat about to pounce, a bird fishing, a state of being.
In Jam Jong there IS a crouching tiger, there IS a hidden dragon.
Find them, learn from them, become them because they are your birthright after all.
Don’t stand like you think the tree is, stand to understand how the tree really is.
Yi Chuan is a fully integrated method, not a single boring, repetitive, excruciating, mind numbing, anal retentive try of the patience.
